Well, I’m sure the adverts on TV tell you that Weetabix is the best cereal ever, but there are other options out there that are just as good if not better, such as porridge or muesli. Breakfast is a very important meal. If you think about the time gap between meals during the day it’s about 3-5 hours. The gap between dinner and breakfast is really big, let’s say you eat dinner at 6pm and get up at 8am, that’s 14 hours without food! Your body needs nutrients after the long gap and this is why breakfast is so important. I highly recommedn a bowl of porridge with brown sugar and a glass of orange juice. Failing that, I love cocoa pops!

I’m a special K man myself, or a hot cross bun. I work much better if I eat in the morning so I’d say it was important

I’m not always hungry in the mornings, so sometimes I just have coffee for breakfast which is not very good for you. But I eat too much anyway!

They most definitely do. It’s really important to eat in the morning as you tend to have much lower circulating blood sugar at that time. Weetabix and porridge really help because the sugar are tied up in long chains known as carbohydrates. In these two cases the chains are not only long but multiply branched and so are called “complex carbohydrates”.

The complexity means the time taken for your body to break them down into individual sugars is longer so you get a nice even release of sugar into your blood rather than a lot in one go. This way you have energy for a longer time. Also when you skip breakfast your brain starts thinking there is no food around and so goes into ‘starvation mode’ you’ll start craving higher energy dense food and your body will work it’s hardest to conserve energy from food you eat.

As for most important well thats down to personal preference. For me I tend to be pretty hungry in the morning and it tails off as the day progress so I like to have a big breakfast :).

I think breakfast is pretty important for getting off to a good start (although like all good advice, we don’t always follow it!). Wheetabix is pretty good. I like that it comes pre-measured. My bowls at home are quite big, so a regular amount of wheetos looks tiny and I’m more likely to eat more by accident. With wheetabix, I always eat two so I know how much I’m eating.
