I guess so. I’m very happy doing my science, and I love the life I get to lead because of my work (the travel, not having a set time to get to work, meeting people). I like living in Edinburgh a lot and I get to live with my boyfriend who is one of my best friends.
I won’t stay living like I currently am for the rest of my life, but that’s ok. Eventually I will move on to a different job in a different city which will be a great adventure. I don’t like to plan out too far ahead what I want to be doing, because it never seems to work out that way, but so far things have gone really well.
I’m not quite there yet. I’m very glad that I have taken the path through academia that I have, as it will open more opportunities for me at the end, but I don’t want to continue. In September this year I’m going to stop being a scientist and train to be a teacher of physics at secondary school and A-level. I hope that’ll turn out to be where I want to be in life 🙂
Yes I must say I’m pretty happy with where I am right now. I have a job which a lot of my friends don’t at the moment. I have the opportunity to live in another country and be paid which is amazing. Most important I’m doing what I love everyday and meeting incredibly interesting people all the time.
I think I’ll want a change at some point in the future but thats quite a ways off yet.
I’m a bit busier than I’d like to be! So much to do. But I’m married to a lovely woman, have an interesting job working with interesting people, and in my spare time I record music and podcasts, so I can’t complain really.
