• Question: can we make nuclear bombs 1000 times stronger than the hiroshma bomb?

      I’m not massively sure as don;t know much about this but I would have thought it would be difficult. Though to be fair why on earth would we want to.

      Yes. It’s been done, in fact. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima was about 15 kt – equivalent to 15,000 tonnes of TNT. The biggest nuclear bomb ever tested was 50 megatons – 3,000 times more powerful and equivalent to 50 million tonnes of TNT. What a terrible thing to do with science.

      Having been to the peace memorial museum at Hiroshima I can honestly say I really hope we don’t although it appears Martin says we have already. Nuclear bombs are horrible things. They do so much more damage than just causing explosions.

    After visiting the Hiroshima peace memorial museum I can honestly say there is no reason we would want to. The effects of nuclear weaponry are horrible and effect so much more than the initial blast area.
