I like to revise and study in a group. That way you can chat to each other (about the work) and bounce ideas off one another. Group learning allows you to fill in gaps in your understanding whilst helping others with what you know.

Writing stuff down on record cards in for each topic helps to categorise what you need to know. Make a chart of things you understand well and things you need to learn.

The revision books that I used when I was at school were also really good, and reading them helped immensely with revising for my exams.

Practice is good. Keep going over problems and homeworks until you really understand what’s going on. If you’re stuck, ask someone. Sometimes someone in your class, or someone in the year above you, might be able to explain it in a new way that makes it click for you. Finding the right book might help too, some books explain things better than others.

A big thing will be figuring out what works best for your learning style. I don’t work well in groups, but I find it really helpful to write everything down. This also helps me see what I’ve covered and what I still need to do.

I can’t help with memorisation, that’s something I’m really bad at. I can remember things if I know how they fit together, but I can’t memorise lists of information.

Writing things down really helps – even if you don’t read your notes again, the process of writing it down helps you understand and remember. I always used to listen to my favourite albums when I revised to make it a bit more fun.

I think listening to music as you revise is a big help, I think taking care over writing things out is also a big help, make it look nice and take some time doing it and it will go in better. Past questions, exam questions are there to make sure you understand the material so by looking at past questions and mark schemes you get to see all the main parts of what you should know.

Hmm for me writing things down was something I found really helpful. I’d re write my notes to reorgnaise the ideas in my head. I’ve always had a good head for memorising stuff though so I’ll admit for exams I didn’t have to cram.

A big thing I’d say is don’t cram. It doesn’t really get you anywhere. Just try and spend a little time reviewing what you’ve done each day and that really helps promote long term memory. I also find it helps to try and explain what you are learning to someone who doesn’t have a clue what you are talking about. You have to really now your stuff to condense and simplify the information. Not only that but you’ll remember how you did it and that makes it easier to recall.
