I don’t know! Writing a song about science means that you have to understand something well enough to explain it to someone else in a simple way (a song is not a place for a lengthy essay!). So the person who writes the song will understand more about a bit of science, or an invention, or a scientist’s life, or whatever they write about! And anyone listening will have heard a song which gives them a bit more of an idea about something scientific.

If you’re a (song)writer, or want to be one, it can be good to do things like writing a song about science – because it’s hard, and it forces you to think differently. It’s easy to write a song about love – but how do you make a song about a space probe that people might want to listen to? Or Einstein? It makes you write more inventively.
