• Question: What comes first the chicken or the egg?

      The egg. There were fish and dinosaurs and other things that laid eggs long before the chicken.

      Well, a chicken can’t flutter out of thin air, so a chicken must come from an egg. In fact, it has to come from a chicken egg. But the very first chicken egg doesn’t have to be laid by a chicken. It could be laid by a protochicken which is not a chicken, but by a fluke of evolution can give birth to chickens.

      Plus, as Martin points out, there were eggs long before there were chickens. So the egg came first.

      The egg comes first, unless you are making a chicken omelette is which case it’s probably better to start with the chicken 😉
