Hey, When I was a sound engineer I needed no qualifications, I did it with a small company in the North East but mainly at my Univeristy. I had already got a fair amount of experience mainly from School productions and then from studying Music Technology for a while at 6th form. It involved setting up sound systems and then setting up all the sound equipment for bands I would then sit at the mixing desk making sure that band sounded good during the gig.

It is a really fun job and quite scientific in many ways aswell but also has a very creative side to it. There are many courses at university which specialise in it. If you think you’d be interested in it you should try and get involved with doing something already even if its just at school plays.
