Wowza, Lots of questions already, I wasn’t expecting to hear from you guys until Monday.

What doe you need to be a scientist…. all you need is to want to understand things in more detail, getting a buzz off knowing how things work will mean you’re going to enjoy your work.

I think you need to be curious and hard working. You have to really want to know how things work and how things fit together, and always be asking questions about things. After that, being hard working is probably more important than being super smart. Luckily if you’re enjoying your research, it doesn’t feel too much like hard work.

Yes, I agree with Suzanne and Robert. You have to be curious and hardworking, and know that, most of the time, the answers are hard! You might never find the answer you want, but you can learn a lot and help a lot of people trying.

I’ll back up the other guys and say curiosity and persistance are the keys to being a good scientist. If you find you are thrilled every time you learn something new, always wanting to pull things apart or ask ‘but why?’ then you are on the right tracks.

It takes a passion for your subject area and hard work. Then again, if you really love your subject then doing research about it doesn’t really feel like work, it’s just doing something that you enjoy, and that’s often when a scientist is most successful.
