I don’t know, It’s only when people ask me questions like this that I realise I actually am a Scientist. I think I probably became on when I Started doing science at Uni.

I probably became a scientists properly once I finished my PhD (became a Dr) in 2010. Before that I felt more like a scientist-in-training. If I count doing physics at uni, I started 9 years ago.

I feel like I started being a scientist when I went to uni to study Physics. But with science, there are always things to learn and you can always get better!

I think the first time you encounter something that you don’t understand, ask ‘Why’ and then try and figure it out you are a scientist. Even from a young age I was performing ‘experiments’. Seriously though I’ve only really felt like a ‘proper scientist’ since I started my PhD and people started asking ME questions about science, and not the other way around.

I considered myself a scientist when I started undertaking independent research instead of being taught in lectures. In which case I’ve been a scientist for 3.5 years.
