Some people chew tobacco, and it can give them mouth cancer. I can’t imagine eating it would do you any good, but it wouldn’t kill you immediately. yuk.
It would probably make you feel ill, like if you eat things like grass or other some other plants. If you only ate tobacco and nothing else, you would probably end up malnourished and die, but the same applies to lettuce.
The short answer. Yes. But you would have to eat a lot of it. Nicotine is toxic in high doses but the amount in the average cigarette is fairly low. Tobacco leaves are about 3% nicotine in dry weight which corresponds to about 1mg in an average cigarette. Smoking it means you absorb less of this so eating it would probably be a bit worse. A lethal dose would be about 60mg so you’d have to eat a lot and I doubt you could handle that much without being sick. Nicotine is in fact a neurotoxin though in low doses it has a stimulatory effect.
